Kimerley, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
It all began in the year of 2019. My husband and I unfortunately sustained a unforeseen and unforgettable car accident. Due to the impact of the accident, we both received serious injuries. Now we currently have lifetime injuries that are unable to heal normally. The doctors offered pain relief in the form of pills (opiods etc.). But, in this day and age with all the issues relating to overdosing and addiction, this option was most definitely not a factor. Especially having two smaller children to tend to! So, we started to look into alternative medicines and with serious diligence we finally discovered a holistic avenue to help heal the issues we and others have. We learned CBD/HEMP may help with pain, anxiety, and most types of depression. This plant was the herbal medication we’ve been looking for! I have always had an understanding of cannabis from my Jamaican heritage, but we’ve learned much more than I could have imagined. After all the research we decided to create a business titled “Musa Greens LLC”, which sells the flower and tincture of CBD/Hemp and “Keleecia Queens Collections” which infuses tincture or oils to create hair and skin products.

Furthering our knowledge with the Hemp Farm Bill passing in 2018, gave us a window of opportunity to join and be apart of something huge. Since the accident we’ve had extra time on our hands ( working as an HHA in my starter up agency Transitioning Health Care was nearly impossible due to the physical strain ). I researched different ingredients, but two years in we still didn’t have the product to our satisfaction. Then,Eureka!!! I found a recipe of organic ingredients which worked magnificently for our families hair. This was great because we formulated it to work with  all of our textures and we have many different types of hair textures in our family.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?

One of our main challenges was to gain capital for the business. We found out quickly that marketing and materials cost. Bottles, labels, and of course the main material CBD/Hemp are not cheap. Also lighting, tents, organic soils and fertilizers are costly. Another big challenge was our children. We have five kids our eldest name is Craig jr (21) then we have Iyonni (19) then Ameel jr (18) and our two little ones are Asar (6) Amiri (3) Can not for get my God children Dakota(21) Tyaira (18) Alden (10), Alex (4) and Da’Kari (2) With the older kids getting ready for life and college and the younger ones being home schooled, creating a business is stressful and expensive. So we’ve implemented a strict way to manage a business and personal life. Oneself has to be organized and meticulous! Through trail and error, we have learned as long as you are moving forward, you are moving in the right direction. Furthermore nothing about raising a family and being a full-time business owner is smooth nor easy. Everything was rough, from getting kids ready for school to getting that first sale of the day. Nonetheless, hustle and hard work seems to work for us just fine.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?

We hold our heads high being apart of the 1.3% of Black farmers in America. This experience so far has been humbling, but we are proud of our products that help ourselves and our clients (which is most important). We offer chemical free, Non-GMO and organic products that may help with insomnia, PTSD, Hair thinning, Postpartum, (Postpartum ) Hair loss, Loss of appetite, Nausea, Seizures, Hair and Skin rejuvenation, and other ailments and issues. Though we cultivate CBD/HEMP, we specialize in infused hair and skin care items from our “Keleecia Queens Collection line. Unlike some big corporations, we care about our community and clients. With that being said, we try to offer our health products at a  better rate with the same or (more often then not) safer ingredients. Also, we would like to leave a legacy for ourselves and children to obtain. This is one of our biggest and main objectives.

In terms of your work and the industry, what are some of the changes you are expecting to see over the next five to ten years?

I cannot predict the future of the industry, but I do know the future of our product. CBD/Hemp is on the cusp of ingenuity. Just being legal for only four years there hasn’t been through enough research. However more and more research is coming out each and everyday that shows how this historic plant has a multitude of benefits. It’s such a shame that a 28 million year old medicinal plant has been banned due to the negative stigma around it. But, now the the community is starting to see the positive benefits that outweigh the very limited cons (if any). So in retrospect, future possibilities of this is plant is endless. Hopefully, in the future to come we will be a well recognized and established company that is known for helping clients and patients with there issues wether it be miniscule or major. We are now in nine stores in Broward County Florida
